Product Description:
The EJ3004 analog input plug-in is manufactured by Beckhoff and belongs to the EJ EtherCAT Plugins series. Mounted on a customer-designed carrier board, the module adds voltage acquisition to distributed control systems that use the EtherCAT E-Bus for both power and data. By sampling external process signals and forwarding them to the CPU in real time, it supports precise monitoring functions that are common in industrial automation lines such as packaging, assembly, and small-machine retrofits.
This unit provides 4 single-ended channels that accept sensor levels up to ±10 V. Each channel is scanned through an input filter whose cutoff frequency is 1 kHz, so signals above that point are attenuated to reduce the effect of high-frequency noise on the controller. Internally, raw measurements are stored with 16-bit data depth before they are transferred over the E-Bus, allowing scaling and diagnostics without loss of detail. The module presents an input impedance of >130 kΩ, which minimizes loading on high-impedance transducers. Electrical energy for the converters and logic is supplied directly through the backplane power path, so no extra wiring is required beyond the 2-wire field terminals. A package depth of 55 mm lets the board sit behind the front connection zone without exceeding standard enclosure clearances.
The effective step size of each conversion is set by a 12-bit resolution, giving 4096 discrete codes across the usable voltage span. Physical space on the DIN rail is limited to a width of 12 mm, and the component rises only 66 mm above the carrier board, supporting high channel density inside compact cabinets. The module has an IP20 protection rating, so it is intended for installation in closed electrical panels where accidental contact is prevented and liquid exposure is not expected. The 2-wire connection scheme simplifies field termination while keeping analog and reference conductors grouped for predictable signal integrity.
