Product Description:
The EJ2809-0000 is a digital output plugin produced by Beckhoff within the EJ EtherCAT Plugins series. Designed for installation on a signal distribution board, the module provides distributed I/O functionality for EtherCAT networks and uses the same form factor and pin mapping found across the series. It presents transistor outputs for low-power actuators, making it a compact option for machine control applications that require high channel density.
The outputs are designed for a rated load voltage of 24 V DC, giving direct compatibility with standard control cabinet supply rails. The module has 16 output channels, and each channel can source up to 0.5 A per channel, so indicator lamps or small solenoids can be driven without external relays. During de-energization, the internal suppressor limits switching-off energy to less than 150 mJ per channel, which helps reduce stress on connected devices. Integrated reverse polarity protection safeguards the board traces and semiconductors from wiring errors by blocking reverse current flow.
The enclosure carries an IP20 rating, so it is intended for protected cabinet environments rather than exposed field locations. Physical dimensions remain small, with a width of 12 mm, a depth of 55 mm, and an overall height of 66 mm, allowing many modules to sit side by side on the same carrier without exceeding typical DIN rail clearances. The housing is molded from polycarbonate and uses the red color code that marks sourcing output slices in the EJ family. Mechanical coding is provided with coding pins fitted in positions 1 and 4 to help prevent accidental insertion into slots reserved for different voltage domains. Because the device mounts directly on a signal distribution board, no individual rear-side field wiring is required, which shortens assembly time during machine builds and simplifies later service.
