Product Description:
The EJ2008-0000 is an eight-channel digital output plug-in from Beckhoff that belongs to the EJ EtherCAT Plugins series. Designed for direct insertion into a signal distribution board, this compact module provides switched 24 V DC power to field devices such as solenoid valves, contactors, and indicator lamps within distributed automation cells. By integrating directly beside the controller, it shortens wiring runs and maintains the deterministic timing offered by the EtherCAT backplane.
The EJ2008-0000 supplies load power at a rated voltage of 24 V DC. Each output can source up to 0.5 A, allowing the module to drive modest inductive or resistive elements without external relays. With 8 individually controlled channels, the module can consolidate several actuators in one compact footprint while allowing status monitoring through the bus. A dielectric barrier rated at 500 V isolates field power from system logic, limiting fault propagation between zones. The enclosure carries an IP20 rating, so the plug-in must remain in a protected cabinet while still offering finger-safe protection. Output stages accept ohmic, inductive, and lamp loads, and reverse-polarity protection prevents damage if the 24 V feed is accidentally crossed. Mechanical coding incorporated into the front edge further blocks insertion into the wrong slot.
The housing measures 12 mm wide, 66 mm high, and 55 mm deep, conserving space on dense distribution boards. Polycarbonate construction keeps weight low while providing insulation and flame resistance. Continuous operation is permitted up to 2,000 m altitude, matching typical plant elevations without derating. The coding pins are placed at positions 1 and 4 to align the module electrically with backplane traces, and additional mechanical keys ensure that only compatible EJ units mate with the board. Because mounting occurs directly on the signal distribution board, no DIN-rail adapters are required, simplifying assembly and improving vibration tolerance.
