Product Description:
The EJ2008 is a Beckhoff output plugin within the EJ EtherCAT Plugins series. It plugs into a carrier board, placing field wiring on standardized pads while EtherCAT process data is routed over the backplane. The module provides discrete switching points so machine controllers can drive actuators or indicators directly from the fieldbus. By embedding the output electronics on a compact board format, it achieves high channel density and short signal paths, simplifying assembly in modern automated equipment.
The module operates with a rated load voltage of 24 V DC, matching the standard supply rail found in most control panels. It offers 8 individually switched outputs, and each channel can deliver up to 0.5 A per channel to the load. Because the output stage is designed for ohmic, inductive, and lamp loads, the same board can energize resistive heaters, solenoid coils, or filament indicators without additional adaptation. An enclosure classification of IP20 requires placement inside a protected housing but allows open convection cooling. Reverse polarity protection guards the electronics if supply conductors are reversed, while the design is short-circuit proof so that a downstream fault will not damage the board. Connection to the carrier is made through a 2 × 20-pin socket strip.
Mechanical dimensions remain tight at 55 mm depth, 66 mm height, and 12 mm width, making the plugin suitable for densely packed multi-axis machines. The board is molded from Polycarbonate, giving adequate dielectric strength and impact resistance without adding weight. Coding pins in positions 1 and 4 key the module so it cannot be inserted into an incorrect slot on the carrier. The permitted operating altitude of 2,000 m covers typical factory elevations without adjustment to load current or switching frequency, supporting reliable service across diverse installation sites.
