The EJ1957-0000 is a safety-rated digital I/O plugin produced by Beckhoff for the EJ EtherCAT Plugins series. Intended for direct soldering onto a carrier board, the module equips compact machinery with fail-safe signal processing so that emergency stops, light curtains, and other protective devices can be connected without additional wiring effort. Inside an EtherCAT segment, it operates as a Safety over EtherCAT slave, providing deterministic exchange of safety data alongside standard process information.
The module offers diagnostic coverage of 98.4%, a figure that quantifies how completely internal faults are detected by its self-monitoring circuitry. A dedicated diagnostic display with 4 LEDs reports internal voltage, run, error, and communication states at a glance. For field signals, there are 8 safe inputs that follow the Type 3 characteristics of EN 61131-2, allowing direct connection of switches or PNP sensors. Actuation tasks are handled by 4 safety outputs that can source 24 V DC to contactors or indicator lamps, while time-critical synchronization signals are provided by 8 clock outputs for test pulses on connected channels.
