EJ1859-0000 is a digital I/O module. It is designed for connection to Beckhoff’s EtherCAT industrial automation networks. The module features 8 output channels and 8 input channels in one compact housing. LEDs indicate the signal state of each of the channels on the unit. A 3 millisecond input filter prevent signal bouncing caused by mechanical switches. The outputs are short-circuit proof and deliver maximum 0.5 Amps output current. The output channels also support reverse polarity protection. The nominal voltage level is 24 Volts DC with 20% allowed tolerance. The defined voltage level for the “0” signal level is from -3 to 5 Volts. The defined voltage level for the “1” signal level is from 11 to 30 Volts. Output channels on the EJ1859-0000 module can be connected to ohmic, lamp, and inductive loads.

The breaking energy is less than 150 milli joules per channel. Typical switching time for the ON state is 60 microseconds. Typical switching time for the OFF state is 300 microseconds. Typical current consumption of the E-bus is 90 milliamps. Special module features include reverse voltage protection and short-circuit protection. Ambient conditions specified by Beckhoff include -25 to 60 degrees Celsius operating temperature, maximum 95% relative humidity, and -40 to 85 degrees Celsius storage temperature. Protection rating of the EJ1859-0000 module is IP20, which indicates it is designed for indoor use. The module is CE marked and UL approved.
