The EJ1100 EtherCAT Coupler allows for direct communication between an EtherCAT plug-in module and the EtherCAT protocol at the fieldbus level. In order to facilitate the integration of process image-detected and -mapped plug-in modules, the coupler converts Ethernet 100BASE-TX telegrams to E-bus signals.
The EJ1100 EtherCAT coupler features two RJ45 sockets that support connection lengths up to 100 meters, allowing flexible network expansion. The upper Ethernet interface connects the coupler to the main network, while the lower socket enables the addition of further EtherCAT devices within the same segment. Reliable power distribution and communication are ensured by the coupler, which supplies the connected plug-in modules with up to 2.2 A at 3.3 V. The 60 mA plus the sum of the E-bus currents divided by 7.2 is the current usage from the supply voltage. To protect the EtherCAT interface from electrical interference, 500 V of isolation is provided.
