The CX5140-0122 is one of the strongest and most resilient devices in Beckhoff's family of embedded PCs, which were created especially to carry out a variety of automation duties in the industrial sector.
The Intel Atom E3845 processor used in this model has four cores and a processing speed of 1.91 GHz, which is adequate for several tasks. There are no storage cards included in the unit but it has card slots for both the CFast and microSD type cards to enable the user to choose the one that is most convenient for him or her. This small form factor computer has 4 GB DDR3 RAM which is non-upgradable, to meet the performance and the cost optimization criteria. It has also an integrated 1-second UPS on a CFast card to ensure that data is saved and operations continue in a short power failure. In terms of connectivity, the CX5140-0122 has two RJ45 ports for 10/100/1000 Mbit/s and two COM ports; one DVI-I for video output and four USB2.0 ports for other devices. Another optional interface can also be set for the specific needs of a user. The cooling of the unit is done passively, hence no fan is used, and this also means that there are few parts to maintain.
