The CU8870-0000 is an interface module produced by Beckhoff within the CU EtherCAT Junctions series. Designed for control cabinets, it links USB peripherals and CompactFlash storage to automation controllers, allowing quick exchange of recipe data and event logs. In industrial installations, the unit functions as a small-footprint media junction that extends fieldbus diagnostics and file handling without requiring an additional power supply. It also supports removable media access in systems that need an external connection for archived process files and portable data exchange. Because it is powered directly over USB, the device eliminates separate wiring and can be installed alongside I/O terminals.
It is supplied directly from a USB host port, so the supply voltage requirement is 5 V DC. The permissible current draw is limited to 500 mA, ensuring the device does not overload standard industrial hubs. Mechanical mounting follows a 35 mm DIN rail profile and conforms to EN 50022, allowing quick snap-in assembly.
