The module extends a controller’s USB channel to the exterior of an enclosure so laptops, data acquisition devices, or handheld programmers can be connected without opening the cabinet. In typical automation lines, it serves as a protected access point for temporary peripheral connections while the control hardware remains enclosed. This arrangement helps preserve the cabinet boundary during file transfer, diagnostics, and general service access.

The enclosure is 54 mm wide, 54 mm deep, and 120 mm high, allowing it to fit beside standard bus couplers on cramped back panels. Its housing carries the IP66 ingress rating, preventing dust entry and guarding against power-wash streams. Reliable operation is specified from -40 °C up to 60 °C, so the unit can be mounted in refrigerated areas or sun-heated kiosks without auxiliary conditioning. Fasteners pass through the rear for panel mounting, securing the body directly to the cabinet wall and relieving strain on the connectors. Data signaling follows the USB 2.0 standard, providing up to 480 Mbit/s bandwidth for memory sticks, cameras, or diagnostic adapters.

The unit uses an integrated USB extension box that eliminates the need for separate hub hardware inside the enclosure. It is supplied with a molded cable that is 5 m long and terminated with a Type-A plug, allowing the control computer to be placed several feet from the operator access point without custom wiring. At the front face, the junction exposes 1 USB socket, which keeps the signal path short and easy to protect with a cap when the port is idle.
