The CU8210-M001-0130 is an EtherCAT junction module from Beckhoff built for panel integration within the CU EtherCAT Junctions series. The unit acts as a media converter and distribution point, allowing a single EtherCAT line to branch into additional segments so remote I/O or drives can be added without changing network topology. By embedding the junction directly into the enclosure wall, the design can simplify wiring layouts and keep high-speed fieldbus traffic inside sealed control cabinets.

Mechanically, the housing measures a compact width of 54 mm and a height of 120 mm, while the depth matches the width to preserve a square footprint behind the panel. Panel machining requires a cutout length of 40.5 mm, a 37 mm opening width, and a 2 mm corner radius so the molded bezel sits flush. The mounting collar is tensioned to the sheet metal, and the junction seals against panels that are 1 mm to 3.5 mm thick. An enclosure rating of IP66 protects the internal electronics from dust ingress and high-pressure water jets, which is useful in washdown areas or outdoor equipment. Continuous operation is permitted down to -40 °C, so cold-room conveyors and exposed installations can retain network communication during startup.

The circuitry remains stable at temperatures up to 60 °C, which supports use in ventilated cabinets where internal heat can rise during operation. Service access is provided through a single USB 2.0 Type A port, keeping local diagnostics available without adding extra front-panel connectors. A factory-attached EtherCAT trunk line extends 3 m from the rear, eliminating an external patch cord and maintaining shield continuity. During installation, the clamping ring can be tightened safely to a maximum of 9 Nm, which compresses the gasket without deforming the front plate.
