The CU8210-D004-0103 is a 4G cellular interface manufactured by Beckhoff for the CU EtherCAT Junctions series. It functions as a USB-mounted modem that links mobile networks to EtherCAT controllers, giving machines an alternate path for diagnostics, data logging, and remote access when wired Ethernet is not available. By using a single USB 2.0 port on an Industrial PC, the device fits into existing automation panels without requiring an additional gateway or separate power adapter.
The modem uses the HiSilicon Balong 711M chipset and supports LTE bands B1/B3/B7/B8/B19/B28/B40. Within those bands, it supports a maximum throughput of DL 150 Mbit/s, UL 50 Mbit/s, which is suitable for transferring diagnostic data and maintaining remote HMI sessions. Transmission power reaches +23 dBm (Class 3), helping maintain uplink performance even when the modem is installed inside a control cabinet. The unit draws a regulated 5 V supply directly from the host USB port, so no separate power cable is required. It supports Release R9 protocols and also provides R8 HSPA/WCDMA fallback plus GSM operation, allowing continued connectivity in areas where only 3G or 2G service is available.
