The CU1123 is a versatile 3-port junction designed for EtherCAT networks, enabling flexible network setups like line, tree, or star configurations. This EtherCAT junction by Beckhoff facilitates the cascading of EtherCAT networks and is suited for applications that require junctions outside the EtherCAT Terminal system. To facilitate high-speed communication, this unit features a delay of 1 microsecond (µs) per port. This facilitates real-time data exchange, allowing for fast responses in demanding time-sensitive applications. This EtherCAT junction uses a shielded Ethernet/EtherCAT cable, of Category 5 or higher, as its data transfer medium. The shielding enhances signal integrity, allowing the unit to achieve high-speed data transfer rates of up to 100 Mbit/s.

The CU1123 features a bus interface with three RJ45 ports, allowing for easy connections to other devices within the EtherCAT network. The module is designed to support a maximum distance of 100 meters between stations when using 100BASE-TX technology. This distance ensures reliable data transmission while maintaining signal integrity. The unit features Hot Connect capability, enabling users to connect or disconnect EtherCAT strands without interrupting network operation when used with TwinCAT or other compatible EtherCAT masters.
