In automated lines it acts as the supervisory node, running TwinCAT control software while presenting operators with status, alarms, and recipe management through a front-mounted display, eliminating the need for a separate controller cabinet.
Environmental tolerances support installation on the factory floor. The front panel carries an IP65 rating, so dust and low-pressure water jets cannot reach the electronics, while the rear of the housing is classified IP20, which is adequate for cabinet-protected wiring zones. A regulated input of 22-30 V DC allows the PC to share 24 V utility buses with sensors and I/O. Continuous service is specified between 0 to +55 °C, enabling operation beside heat-generating drives.
