The CP6904-0001-0000 is a compact Panel PC produced by Beckhoff within the CP Panel PC Systems series. It combines the visualization panel and control computer in a single housing so that one device can be mounted on the cabinet door while power and data lines are routed to the controller. In an automation cell, this unit serves as the human-machine interface and executes local PLC tasks, reducing cabinet space and cabling compared with separate display and IPC arrangements. That integrated format is useful where door space is limited and where a separate industrial PC would add extra wiring between the screen and the control hardware.

The unit communicates with Beckhoff I/O modules over EtherCAT at a maximum data transfer rate of 50 kHz, allowing high-resolution process updates. Operators view process graphics on a TFT display and issue commands through a single-touch resistive overlay. Two downstream USB sockets accept scanners or memory sticks, and the wiring layout uses conductor sizes up to 1.5 mm² with a 4 mm² protective ground. The Panel PC draws its logic power from a 24 V rail and supports continuous operation when the supply remains within 22–30 VDC. A DIN power plug rated at 16 A accommodates inrush current from attached peripherals, and the aluminum front bezel is sealed to IP65 while the rear side remains IP20 for cabinet installation.

The housing withstands shocks up to 5 G, 30 ms without functional loss, and the electronics remain stable across a storage range of -25 to +65 °C. When paired with a CP69xx display-only panel, digital video and USB can be extended to a remote station as far as 50 m away. Those remote links use USB 2.0, which supports high-speed peripheral communication across the extended connection. This arrangement allows the operating point to be placed farther from the cabinet when machine access or panel placement requires separation.
