Beckhoff’s CP6709-0000-0000 is a compact Panel PC in the CP Panel PC Systems series. The unit combines an industrial computer, touchscreen, and control interfaces in one housing for machine-mounted HMI and soft-PLC tasks. Within an automation cell, it executes TwinCAT or other Windows-based control software and provides local visualization so operators can issue commands without a separate computer. Its fanless construction and slim profile allow installation directly in a cabinet door or operator console, which reduces wiring length to I/O and drives.
The display section uses a 6.5 in TFT panel that presents process graphics clearly while keeping the overall footprint modest. All electronics are powered from a single 24 VDC source already common in control panels. Integrated networking is handled by 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet controllers; the presence of 2 Ethernet ports lets one connection reach the plant network while the other links to field devices. For removable media or service access, the front panel carries two receptacles that use USB 2.0, permitting quick uploads of recipes and data files. Legacy instrumentation can still report to the Panel PC through the RS232 channel, ensuring compatibility with long-life sensors and barcode scanners that predate modern fieldbuses.
Environmental limits are addressed by the housing design. The bezel and touchscreen achieve IP65 when mounted flush against the panel cutout, blocking dust and water jets during washdown. Internally, application files are stored on a Compact Flash Card, eliminating rotating media and allowing vibration-tolerant operation. The back shell carries only IP20 protection, so the rear area must remain inside a sealed cabinet; this arrangement keeps component depth to 42 mm and eases heat dissipation through natural convection.
