Product Description:
The CP3218-1078-0020 is an operator-panel PC manufactured by Beckhoff within the CP Panel PC Systems series. Designed for direct mounting on machine pedestals, the unit combines computing hardware, a graphical display, and touch input so it can execute visualization tasks and run control software at the field level of an automation cell. By consolidating these functions in a sealed housing, it reduces control-cabinet depth and shortens signal paths between the process and the supervisory system. This arrangement also allows the display and controller to remain close to the machine instead of being separated into different enclosures.
Front-side usability centers on a 18.5 in TFT screen that provides ample viewing area without creating an oversized support arm. The panel operates from a 24 VDC supply that can be shared with low-voltage control circuits. Its aluminum housing is rated IP65, which helps block dust and resist water jets on the front side. For passive cooling, 20 cm of air clearance is required behind the case. The unit fastens to a 48 mm tube, and once installed, the head can swivel ±165° and tilt by 20° to improve operator access. A shock tolerance of 5 G, 30 ms helps protect the electronics during handling and machine movement. Overall width is 471.8 mm, height is 289.6 mm, and an M4 grounding thread connects the frame to plant earth.
Data exchange and storage are handled through built-in industrial interfaces. Two 2 × 100/1000BASE-T Ethernet ports provide separate network paths for PLC traffic and service access. Mass-storage reliability is improved by a SATA RAID 1 controller that mirrors the internal drives, so one disk fault does not immediately stop the operating system or application data. Platform security is strengthened by fTPM 2.0 support, which provides hardware-based key storage and measured boot functions. User interaction is captured through a multi-finger touch screen, allowing gesture-based commands such as zoom and rotate without external switches. This combination lets the panel handle HMI operation, network communication, and local data protection from the same housing.
