Product Description:
The CB4053 is a modular embedded motherboard produced by Beckhoff as part of the CB Modular Motherboards series. Designed for industrial automation controllers, vision systems, and compact HMI panels, the board supplies the processing core, fieldbus connectivity, and peripheral interfaces needed to integrate PC-based control into machinery. Within a modular carrier concept, it mates to application-specific backplanes so OEMs can scale CPU resources without redesigning I/O hardware. It can therefore serve as a common computing module across several machine variants that share the same carrier approach.
Measuring 96 mm x 90 mm, the board fits into space-restricted enclosures while still routing the required signal layers. The CPU and chipset together draw only 5 W maximum, which permits passive cooling and helps limit heat buildup in compact cabinets. Two RJ45 connectors provide 10/100/1000Base-T networking for deterministic fieldbus tunneling or standard IT access, so control traffic and general network communication can be kept on separate links when needed. System memory expands to 2 GB through a single SO-DIMM200 socket that accepts DDR2-533 modules. For legacy expansion, a 16-bit ISA bus is available on the board-to-backplane interface. Additional resources include an LVDS video header for flat-panel displays and support for PCI master devices on the carrier side.
Continuous operation from 0 °C to +60 °C ambient is supported as long as the silicon junction remains below the 90 °C die limit. The logic domain is energized from a single 5 V ±5% rail, and the real-time clock retains time whenever an external source of 3 V or higher is present. Peripheral bandwidth is handled by eight USB 2.0 ports, while two UARTs simplify integration of barcode readers, operator terminals, or service consoles. High-definition audio with 7.1 channels is routed to an onboard codec, giving the board multimedia capability without a separate sound device. The backup time source also helps preserve clock data through brief power interruptions.
