Product Description:
Beckhoff’s CB4051-0007 is a CPU motherboard in the CB Modular Motherboards series designed for embedded automation computers that require multiple field connections within a small footprint. Acting as the central backplane, it accepts a low-power processor module and distributes power, memory, and communication resources needed for machine control, data logging, and HMI tasks on factory floors. That layout supports compact industrial computers where the motherboard must consolidate control, communications, and display resources in limited cabinet space. Audio is handled by an AC97 codec that also provides SPDIF input and output for digital sound.
The board integrates dual Ethernet controllers, including one Fast Ethernet channel and one Gigabit port rated at 10/100/1000Base-T, so a controller can be separated from the corporate network while still supporting high-speed data exchange. It provides 8 x USB 2.0 downstream ports, allowing scanners, service USB drives, or Wi-Fi adapters to be attached. Two legacy serial channels are available through dual COM headers, and the serial and display interfaces support direct connection of legacy devices and integrated operator screens. Video is routed through an LVDS 18-bit TFT interface for direct connection to flat panels. System memory is provided by a single 1 x SO-DIMM200 slot that accepts DDR2-667 modules, and the maximum installed capacity is 2 GByte, which is adequate for real-time control under Windows CE or TwinCAT runtime.
For mass storage, the layout offers 1 x IDE + 2 x SATA connectors, so both legacy CompactFlash drives and modern solid-state disks can be used on the same controller. Expansion cards are supported over 3 PCIe lanes, giving room for fieldbus interfaces without relying on USB bandwidth. The board is powered from a single 5 V ±5% rail that simplifies cabinet wiring, and standby time for the real-time clock is extended because its backup branch draws only ≤ 10 µA when a coin cell supplies at least 3 V. This arrangement supports mixed storage media and add-on interfaces while keeping the power input simple.
