Product Description:
The CB3053-0012 motherboard is produced by Beckhoff within the CB Modular Motherboards series. It is intended for embedded control tasks in industrial automation systems, providing processor, memory, and fieldbus interfaces on a 3.5-inch form factor that can be mounted directly behind operator panels or inside compact controllers. By combining input and output supervision, visualization, and network communication on a single board, it reduces cabinet space and wiring compared with separate PC components.
The board footprint of 102 x 147 mm follows the 3.5-inch standard, allowing direct mounting to existing SBC mounting points. An Intel SCH US15W chipset links the single-core processor to a 512 KB L2 cache so real-time operating systems can handle motion or PLC cycles without unnecessary delay. One SO-DIMM200 socket accepts up to 2 GB of DDR2-533 memory, which supports parameter storage and HMI graphics buffering in the same low-profile slot. Two Gigabit controllers provide Ethernet connections on RJ-45 jacks, and the data path supports 10/100/1000Base-T so fieldbus traffic and standard network communication can run on separate ports. Two RS-232/422 serial channels are also available for legacy drives, scanners, or similar devices.
Eight USB 2.0 connectors are provided through internal headers and rear I/O for general-purpose expansion, and each port follows the USB 2.0 signaling scheme for 480 Mbit/s peripherals. Multimedia support is limited but suitable for HMI workstations, with the integrated audio codec providing HDA 5.1 surround output while digital video is routed through a DVI-D interface for panel-mounted monitors. For locally mounted flat-panel displays, the board also supports an LVDS 18/24-bit channel, which removes the need for an external converter. The available Ethernet, serial, USB, and display interfaces support compact control systems that do not require separate expansion cards for basic communication and operator display functions.
