Product Description:
The CB3051 belongs to the CB Modular Motherboards series engineered by Beckhoff. It is an industrial PC motherboard intended for embedded control tasks where compact size and standardized backplane connections simplify panel or machine integration. By hosting a compatible CPU module and field-side I/O adapters, the board acts as the central processing layer inside programmable logic controllers, motion controllers, or visualization terminals used throughout factory automation.
The board footprint is 102 × 147 mm, so it can mount inside DIN-rail or book-style enclosures without exceeding a 3U slot height. System power is derived from a single 5 V ±5% rail, which makes it compatible with typical 24 V-to-5 V converter bricks already present in control cabinets. Two SO-DIMM sockets permit a maximum system memory of 4 GByte using DDR2-667 modules, giving enough storage for real-time operating systems and machine-level databases. External peripherals connect through eight USB 2.0 receptacles, and the availability of 8 high-speed ports supports barcode scanners, service sticks, or touchscreen controllers without requiring a separate hub. Local mass storage is handled by two SATA lanes, and the board presents 2 physical ports that operate at 3 Gbit/s for SSD or rotating media. In addition, an IDC 2 mm IDE header is provided for legacy drives, and a single Mini-PCI slot accepts fieldbus or Wi-Fi cards. Four RS-232/422 serial channels complete the low-level interface set.
For networking, the dual RJ-45 connectors each support 1000Base-T, enabling deterministic EtherCAT gateways or high-bandwidth HMI uplinks. The RTC section draws only 10 µA, allowing multi-year timekeeping when backed by a 3 V lithium cell. An LVDS graphics output drives 18-bit color panels, and the 18-bit depth is sufficient for operator displays and status dashboards. Silicon can run safely up to a junction limit of 100 °C, extending usable ambient range when the board is installed behind sealed doors with limited airflow.
