Product Description:
The CB3011-0001 motherboard is produced by Beckhoff and belongs to the CB Modular Motherboards series. Designed for embedded controllers, this 3.5-inch board serves as the central processing platform inside compact industrial PCs and remote I/O stations. It hosts fieldbus, storage, and display interfaces so machine builders can integrate deterministic motion control, data logging, and HMI tasks within a single low-power printed circuit assembly. Its layout follows the industry-standard 24 V supply domain and places connectors on the board edges for direct panel mounting in control cabinets.
The Arm Cortex-A8, 1 GHz processor supplies single-core performance sufficient for PLC cycle times down to the sub-millisecond range. To sustain multitasking, the board includes 1 GB DDR3 RAM soldered close to the CPU for 64-bit data bandwidth. Program and operating system images reside on a 512 MB microSD card, which fits into an onboard socket for local storage. Retentive variables survive power loss in 128 kB NOVRAM, eliminating battery maintenance for recipe data or counters. The compact 3.5-inch geometry fits VESA display carriers and permits fanless housing because high-heat components sit under a single aluminum heat spreader.
A regulated 24 V DC input powers the board, and the optional 1-second capacitive UPS bridges brief drops on the control bus. For deterministic fieldbus communication, the board offers 1 x EtherCAT (RJ45) as a dedicated port tied directly to the processor’s real-time unit. Standard plant networks connect through 1 x 10/100BASE-T (RJ45), while debug consoles can use the single RS-232 link. Two USB 2.0 Type-A connectors accept USB drives, cameras, or touch panels, and the microSD slot supports larger cards when extended data retention is required. Integrated graphics in the CPU drive LVDS or digital display outputs on the carrier board, and the EtherCAT port can be daisy-chained to remote terminals without extra switches.
