The CB2051-0005 is a modular motherboard produced by Beckhoff within the CB Modular Motherboards series. It fits into industrial PCs where it hosts the CPU, memory, and peripheral buses needed for PC-based control. By supplying a base platform for motion logic, fieldbus communication, and user interfaces, the board allows multiple automation tasks to run on a single, compact computing layer without sacrificing enclosure space or maintenance access.
At its core, the board relies on the Intel 945GM / Intel ICH7 chipset, supplying PCI-Express, IDE, and SATA buses for both legacy and high-speed storage. Two 2 x SO-DIMM200 sockets accept up to 2 GByte of RAM, and when the slots are filled with DDR2-667 modules, the memory clock stays synchronous with the front-side bus. Graphics are routed through a LVDS 18-bit interface that drives flat panels directly. Installation occurs through the PISA-Slot backplane connector, so the motherboard can be exchanged without rewiring the cabinet. One IDE channel, two SATA channels, and a single MiniPCI slot cover mass storage and fieldbus add-ons. Sixteen GPIO lines support fast bit-level signaling, while the four serial ports remain available for barcode readers or external drives.
Multimedia and network links occupy the remaining edge connectors on the board. Audio is implemented by AC97 with SPDIF In/Out, giving the controller a digital stereo path for operator prompts or diagnostics. Two Ethernet controllers are present; one is Fast Ethernet and the other is 10/100/1000Base-T, allowing separation of machine traffic from plant-wide gigabit channels. The board footprint of 192 x 125.5 mm fits standard Beckhoff IPC card cages without blocking airflow.
