Product Description:
The CB1052-0003 is a motherboard produced by Beckhoff within the CB Modular Motherboards series. It is intended to host CPU, memory, and I/O resources inside IPCs used for machine control or data acquisition. By integrating processor, memory, and peripheral interfaces on a single ATX board, it provides a standardized base for modular control systems that must fit into 305 × 220 mm enclosures while interfacing with Beckhoff automation software stacks.
The board is built around a Intel GM45 + ICH9R chipset and features a mPGA479M socket, so Celeron M, Core 2 Duo, or Core 2 Quad processors can be selected to match performance and thermal budgets. The expansion layout includes 3 x PCI, 3 x PCIe x1, 1 x PCIe x16, allowing motion, fieldbus, or image-processing cards to be installed without an external expansion chassis. This mix supports both newer add-in cards and older hardware already used in established automation systems. Network connectivity is provided by 2 x 10/100/1000Base-T interfaces for redundant or segmented Ethernet networks, and human-machine terminals or service laptops can be attached through 12 x USB 2.0 receptacles. Mass-storage devices connect through 8 x SATA ports, enabling RAID configurations or individual SSDs for real-time logging. An AC97/HDA codec with SPDIF I/O supplies audio, while the CRT, 18-bit LVDS, and TV-Out connections permit direct panel or legacy monitor attachment.
Up to 8 GB of system RAM can be installed across two SO-DIMM204 sockets, and that memory operates at the DDR3-1066 rate to balance bandwidth with heat dissipation. The ATX form factor simplifies cabinet integration, and the board’s 100 °C die temperature ceiling supports fanless enclosures when combined with low-power CPUs. Four COM ports allow RS-232/422 diagnostics and connection to serial devices still used in industrial equipment. Typical consumption stays near 10 VA, which helps when power budgets inside distributed control cabinets are limited.
