It has an optional fan tray for use in hot environments, but the unit does not have a fan and can thus operate silently when needed. The operating temperature may go as high as 55° Celsius to ensure stability in hot working environments. In terms of communication, the PC has two separate Ethernet ports for all those applications that need strong and reliable networks like EtherCAT control systems.
The scalability is impressive with two slots for PCMCIA cards up to 190mm and the option for both PCI and PCI express slots depending on the industrial application. The C6920-1128-0050 has an expanded housing of 70 mm and a backplane for an extra slot that houses the aluminum chassis, which adds not only physical protection but also helps with the heat generated by the unit.
