The C6920-1072-0040 industrial PC is produced by Beckhoff within the C6 Industrial PC Units series. Designed as a compact control computer for machine automation, it hosts operating systems and real-time tasks that coordinate drives, local I/O, and visualization. The metal enclosure installs inside a switch cabinet and connects directly to field networks, enabling the unit to bridge shop-floor sensors with supervisory software used in production lines and process equipment.
A single monitor connects through a 1 × DVI-I interface, allowing either analog VGA or digital DVI signaling. Plant Ethernet is served by 2 × RJ-45 connectors linked to 10/100/1000BASE-T controllers, so control traffic can be isolated from diagnostic traffic at gigabit speeds. Removable storage devices, service keys, and scanners connect through 4 × USB 2.0 ports that supply 500 mA per channel. The housing carries an IP20 rating, so it protects against finger contact but requires enclosure mounting for protection from dust or splashing water. Two internal fans move air across the motherboard, while a 9-pin D-Sub fieldbus socket offers selectable protocols for legacy modules. A separate 9-pin RS-232 port supports serial connections to drives or barcode readers. The power section accepts 22–30 VDC, matching the common 24 V control supplies found in automation panels.
Continuous operation is permitted at temperatures up to +55 °C. When powered off, the computer can be stored at temperatures from −25 °C to +65 °C. Noncondensing humidity may reach 95% RH, allowing operation in humid production areas. Input tolerance extends to surges of 30 VDC, providing headroom against line transients. The unit withstands shocks of 5 G lasting 30 ms, helping protect the electronics when the computer is installed in mobile or vibration-prone equipment.
