Product Description:
Beckhoff manufactures the industrial PC identified as C6920-0040, which is part of the C6 Industrial PC Units series. The unit serves as a central controller that executes PLC logic, motion sequences, and HMI tasks inside automated lines. Its compact housing allows DIN-rail or direct plate mounting inside control cabinets, so cabinet space is conserved while deterministic program execution is kept close to sensors and drives operating on the plant floor.
Thermal management relies on 2 axial cooling fans that draw air across the heat sink and memory modules to hold safe operating temperatures. The motherboard follows the 3.5-inch embedded format, minimizing depth while still supporting compact expansion cards. Four USB sockets implement the USB 2.0 standard, enabling 480 Mbit/s links for service tools and removable media. Two independent Gigabit Ethernet adapters are fitted: the X102 port is chipset-based and the X103 port is a PCIe device, and each handles 10/100/1000BASE-T signaling for EtherCAT or standard TCP/IP traffic. The enclosure carries an IP20 rating, meaning it blocks fingers and similar solid objects but is intended for installation in a dry, protected cabinet.
Environmental tolerances extend to a relative humidity of 95% RH without condensation, allowing operation in humid production areas. An eight-pole power connector supports up to 16 A, delivering DC power to the logic board, fans, and storage devices through a keyed plug that prevents reversal. Visual output follows the DVI-I video standard, so both analog and digital monitors can be attached for local diagnostics. Legacy equipment can still connect through the integrated RS232 interface, and a single fieldbus slot accepts Profibus or CAN modules when Ethernet is unsuitable. Mechanical durability is confirmed by a shock resistance of 5 G, and the aluminum chassis supports reliable cabinet installation.
