The C6920-0020 is a compact industrial PC produced by Beckhoff and assigned to the C6 Industrial PC Units series. As a fan-cooled controller, it is intended to run TwinCAT or other real-time software so that motion, logic, and visualization tasks can be combined in one piece of hardware on the factory floor. Its design allows cabinet mounting close to machinery, delivering deterministic Ethernet communication while minimizing the footprint that traditional panel PCs occupy. Because it runs on standard PC chipsets while offering industrial connectors, the device bridges IT and OT domains in automated plants.
The unit draws its logic and peripheral power from a 24 VDC supply that connects through an 8-pole terminal, so no separate ATX source is needed. Thermal management relies on 2 cooling fans with double ball bearings; this bearing style extends service life in the high ambient temperatures common in control cabinets. The aluminum enclosure is rated IP20, indicating finger-safe protection but requiring enclosure installation for dusty or wet locations. Four externally accessible USB receptacles provide 4 x USB 2.0 interfaces for service keys, data logging, or human-machine interfaces, and a 3.5-inch motherboard with two optional card slots allows added fieldbus or storage modules without exceeding the 1.9 kg housing limit.
Network and visualization resources are integrated. The unit provides 2 x RJ-45 Ethernet BASE-T connections, and the dedicated X102 controller supports 10/100/1000BASE-T signaling for deterministic process data or enterprise traffic. Legacy serial sensors can still be connected through the 1 x RS232 D-Sub-9 connector, while high-resolution operator panels attach through 1 x DVI-I. Expansion cards up to 190 mm long can slide into the chassis without obstructing airflow, allowing added motion cards or additional fieldbus links.
