The C6640-1014-0040 industrial PC is produced by Beckhoff within the C6 Industrial PC Units series. Intended for cabinet installation, this fanless controller provides computational resources for motion control, human-machine interfaces, and fieldbus gateways in automated production lines. By combining the motherboard, storage, and expansion slots in a single enclosure, the unit serves as the central control node that executes PLC code, collects sensor data, and sends real-time commands to drives and I/O modules throughout an automated system.
The housing measures 371 x 336 x 198 mm, which helps with rack planning while leaving room for cable routing. An enclosure rating of IP20 means that only rigid objects larger than 12.5 mm can reach live parts, so the PC should be mounted in a closed cabinet for better protection from dust and accidental contact. Power-loss data retention is supported by an onboard energy store, and its lithium-metal cell supplies 225 mAh at 3.0 V. Because the cell uses the CR2032 format, replacements are widely available and fit directly onto the motherboard without tools. Rear fastening tabs accept M4 screws, allowing secure attachment to mounting plates and vibration dampers.
