Beckhoff manufactures the C6340-1003-0040 as part of its C6 Industrial PC Units series. The industrial PC hosts real-time control software and links field I/O, motion axes, and supervisory networks on a machine line. By packaging PC control in a cabinet-mount housing, the unit lets OEMs consolidate visualization, data logging, and automation tasks in one platform. Its compact footprint also helps when the controller must be added to existing electrical enclosures that already contain drives, power supplies, and network hardware.
The controller draws 24 V DC from the control cabinet power bus, so no separate AC supply is required. Its enclosure measures 134 x 196 x 226 mm, which permits side-by-side mounting with standard DIN-rail components while still leaving airflow space consistent with the IP20 enclosure rating. Two onboard Ethernet jacks provide 2 x RJ45 connections that operate to the 10/100BASE-T standard for HMI, PLC, or ERP connectivity. The front panel includes 3 x USB 2.0 ports for service keyboards, touch displays, or removable storage. A single RS-232 interface is presented on a 9-pin Sub-D connector for legacy devices, and a DVI-I port supports digital or analog video to a control panel. System images reside on a 2.5-inch HDD that is accessible without disassembling the motherboard tray.
For application-specific extension cards, the chassis offers 5 PCI slots, allowing motion controllers, fieldbus masters, or additional network cards to be integrated without external racks. During transport or accidental impacts, it withstands 5 G shocks lasting 30 ms so internal boards remain seated. Operation is permissible in humid production areas up to 95% RH, provided condensation is prevented.
