Product Description:
The C6240-1042 is a panel-mount industrial PC produced by Beckhoff within the C6 Industrial PC Units series. Designed as a control and visualization node, the unit brings standard PC architecture to machine-level automation. It can run real-time control software, handle fieldbus traffic, and store production data inside a single enclosure.
At a cabinet width of 430 mm and a depth of 274 mm, the housing allocates rack space while still leaving clearance for cabling. The shell is classified as IP20, so it is intended for dry, clean switchgear environments and must be mounted in a protected control panel. Internal electronics are specified to operate continuously up to 55 °C ambient, and the unit tolerates 95 % relative humidity without condensation. Network traffic is handled by an integrated Gigabit Ethernet interface supporting 10/100/1000BASE-T signaling, enabling direct connection to standard plant switches. Five pluggable power or I/O contacts are arranged on 5 mm centers, and the minimum recommended wire area is 1.5 mm² to assure low contact resistance. The 170 mm height aligns with 3U cabinet slots and provides airflow clearance above neighboring equipment.
When the machine is idle or in transit, components can be stored between -20 °C and +65 °C; the lower limit protects electrolytic capacitors during cold shipping. The aluminum chassis withstands mechanical shocks of 5 G for 30 ms without data loss, fitting typical factory vibration profiles. Legacy equipment can interface through a dedicated RS 232 port, which remains common for configuration tools and label printers. Field wiring down to AWG 16 can be landed on the spring terminals, matching the 1.5 mm² conductor cross-section. The unit is suited to industrial control panels where storage conditions, serial peripherals, and occasional mechanical shock must be considered.
