The C6240-1039-0020 is an industrial PC from Beckhoff. It belongs to the C6 Industrial PC Units series. This unit serves as the central computing platform in automated cells, where it runs motion, logic, and visualization tasks that coordinate machinery and plant-floor data flow. By combining control and visualization in one housing, it supports cabinet-based installations where computing resources need to remain close to drives, I/O, and operator interfaces.
The system is built around an ATX motherboard and offers 7 card slots, allowing PCI-based controller or communication cards to be added for custom functionality. This layout supports application-specific expansion without relying on external interface converters. Graphics output is provided through 1 DisplayPort connection and 2 DVI ports, with the DVI interfaces using DVI-D signaling for purely digital transmission. Network connectivity is handled by two gigabit interfaces that follow the 10/100/1000BASE-T standard, so separate physical networks can be used for machine control and supervisory data. Audio connections are provided through three jacks for line-in, line-out, and microphone signals. The minimum permitted conductor cross-section inside the power terminal is 1.5 mm², and the plug has 5 mm pin spacing so standard industrial wiring ferrules fit without strain. Two PS/2 sockets support legacy mouse and keyboard devices.
The front panel provides 4 USB ports for removable media access and peripheral connections. Serial interfacing is available through a single port that uses a 9-pin D-sub connector, making it compatible with established RS-232 diagnostic instruments. That port can also support older serial peripherals still used in industrial equipment. The power entry module contains 5 power socket contacts, which distribute line, neutral, protective ground, and auxiliary signals to the internal supply. Component airflow is maintained when 50 mm of ventilation clearance is kept on both sides of the housing, helping prevent heat buildup during continuous 24/7 operation.
