Product Description:
The C6240-1031 is an industrial PC manufactured by Beckhoff and positioned in the C6 Industrial PC Units series. Inside a control cabinet, it provides CPU, I/O, and network resources for motion controllers, PLC tasks, and HMI runtimes that coordinate machines and cells on the plant floor. By consolidating these automation layers on one embedded Windows platform, the unit reduces cabinet space and cabling while maintaining deterministic communication with field devices. This layout also allows one cabinet-mounted device to support control, visualization, and data exchange in a compact installation.
The system board offers 7 chassis slots, giving the unit room for additional fieldbus, motion, or GPU cards without enlarging the enclosure footprint. Four front-mounted USB ports support removable drives or other external devices, and dual Ethernet ports allow separation of the machine network from higher-level IT traffic. Both jacks negotiate at 10/100/1000BASE-T, so line speeds scale automatically from legacy switches up to gigabit backbones. An IP20 housing helps protect against accidental contact with live parts, but it requires installation in a closed cabinet. Video is routed through one DisplayPort and two DVI connectors, enabling multi-screen HMIs without external splitters. A single RS-232 serial port accommodates legacy sensors, and its stated interface type keeps cable pinouts predictable.
Durability and wiring requirements support cabinet installation in demanding industrial settings. The aluminum chassis endures shocks up to 5 G, helping protect solid-state media during rapid axis movements. Operation can continue in humidity as high as 95% without condensation, making the PC suitable for enclosed industrial areas where moisture is present. Field wiring must be at least 1.5 mm², and the five-pole power connector separates protective earth from the DC inputs for clear installation. The unit has a depth of 274 mm, while its 430 mm width and 170 mm height align with 19-inch rack rail patterns, allowing it to slide into standard automation frames without custom brackets.
