Product Description:
The C6240-1016 is an industrial PC unit produced by Beckhoff as part of the C6 Industrial PC Units series. This rack-mountable computer acts as the central processing element in automated machinery, coordinating motion, I/O, and visualization tasks through real-time Ethernet and fieldbus networks. By integrating high-speed computing within a compact enclosure, the C6240-1016 allows machine builders to combine control, HMI, and data logging functions in a single hardware platform.
With a front panel width of 430 mm, a height of 170 mm, and a depth of 274 mm, the PC fits standard 4U rack slots while permitting ventilation above adjacent modules. The metal enclosure carries an IP20 protection rating, making it suitable for installation in clean cabinet interiors without exposure to liquids. Two Gigabit Ethernet interfaces support 10/100/1000BASE-T communication for EtherCAT or general LAN traffic, and a pair of RJ45 connectors accommodates redundant network topologies. Dual DVI-I sockets and one DisplayPort route high-resolution video to multiple operator panels without requiring add-on graphics cards.
Internally, the motherboard provides 7 free PCI or PCIe slots, allowing motion cards, fieldbus masters, or image-processing accelerators to be added without enlarging the computer’s footprint. The unit has four front-accessible USB ports for service keyboards, flash storage, or wireless adapters, while legacy devices can connect through a single RS-232 port. Three audio jacks support line-in, line-out, and microphone signals for machine acoustic monitoring. The five-pole power connector has contacts spaced 5 mm apart, and cabinet wiring must use conductors no smaller than 1.5 mm² to meet thermal requirements. Reliable operation is supported at up to 95% noncondensing relative humidity, allowing the computer to operate in protected enclosures where humidity may fluctuate. The rack-mount design keeps expansion interfaces accessible, while the metal housing provides a rigid platform for installed cards and internal storage devices.
