The C6017-0020 is an ultra-compact industrial PC produced by Beckhoff and placed within the C6 Industrial PC Units series. Designed for installation inside control cabinets, the device provides deterministic computing power for motion control, PLC tasks, and data logging. By combining fanless operation with solid-state storage, it supports continuous 24/7 duty, executes TwinCAT runtime, and offers the connectivity required to interface shop-floor sensors with supervisory SCADA or cloud services. Its small form factor helps when cabinet space is tight and control hardware must be placed close to I/O terminals.
The housing measures 82 x 82 x 66 mm, so the controller fits beside terminal blocks without consuming rack depth. Its IP20 enclosure restricts ingress to finger-sized objects, making the PC suitable for protected cabinet environments. Networking is handled by an Intel i210 controller with 2x RJ45 sockets. Each port supports 100/1000 Mbit/s link speeds, allowing separate machine and enterprise segments through internal switching. A single DisplayPort drives high-resolution operator panels, while the unit also has 2x USB 3.0 connectors for high-speed peripheral access and up to 500 mA per port for cameras or service sticks. Ethernet cabling can extend to 100 m under Class D rules, and wiring can use conductors up to 1.5 mm². Power enters through a keyed connector rated for 8 A, and the CR2032 battery retains BIOS parameters during outages.
The PC also includes security features and vibration resistance for cabinet installations. An embedded fTPM 2.0 module stores encryption keys so the operating system can implement secure boot and device authentication. For mobile or vibration-prone machinery, the aluminum body withstands accelerations of 5 G for a 30 ms half-sine pulse without data loss. Operation is permitted in cabinet climates up to 95% relative humidity, provided condensation is prevented. The compact unit suits packaging lines, material-handling gantries, and retrofit cells where space is limited.
