Product Description:

The BC9100 Bus Terminal designed and developed by Beckhoff considered to be an efficient product for industrial automation applications. It relates to the BC Bus Terminals Series. It is a highly durable terminal and ensures system compatibility.

The BC9100 bus terminal draws 70 mA for its own operation, plus an additional portion based on the total current used by the K-bus divided by 4. It is compliant with standard electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) regulations for industrial environments which ensures it won't interfere with or be disrupted by other electronic devices. It is constructed to manage up to 256 digital I/O signals which means it can read and send on or off signals from or to devices like sensors, relays and switches. The module is rated to function reliably within -25°C ... +60°C temperature range. The terminal connects to the fieldbus using two RJ45 Ethernet ports which allows for daisy chaining or ring topologies in networks. In a single node setup total 64 individual bus terminals can be connected to this device. When It is running in normal conditions then its contacts are capable of carrying DC voltage of 24 volts safely . It is protected against solid objects >12.5 mm (like fingers) but not against water.

The BC9100 bus terminal insulation is capable of withstanding 500 volts between the power supply, fieldbus and internal power contacts. This module draws about 2.5 times more current on power up than it does during normal operation. It can withstand mechanical stress like vibration and shocks as it conforms to EN 60068-2-6 / EN 60068-2-27 which ensures durability in rough industrial automation environments. Its power contacts efficiency can be acknowledged by its ability to pass upto current of 10 ampere.

Frequently Asked Questions about BC9100:

Q: How does the internal 3-port switch improve network topology in the BC9100?

A: The 3-port switch in the BC9100 enables flexible network structures like daisy chaining or rings. This minimizes the need for external switches and simplifies wiring.

Q: Why is dielectric strength important in the BC9100 Bus Terminal?

A: Dielectric strength of 500V ensures insulation between power and communication lines. This protects the system from electrical faults and signal interference.

Q: How does the BC9100 handle network redundancy with its dual RJ45 ports?

A: The dual RJ45 ports allow easy integration of redundant network paths. This increases system availability and reduces downtime in critical processes.

Q: What is the role of K-Bus power supply in the BC9100 Bus Terminal?

A: The K-Bus power of up to 1750 mA ensures adequate current for all connected terminals. This supports stable operation without external power injection.

Q: Why is the power contact current load of 10 A important in the BC9100?

A: A 10 A load capacity allows the BC9100 to support high-power modules downstream. This enables scalability in I/O-intensive environments.
