Product Description:
The BC9050 is a compact PLC and Ethernet fieldbus coupler manufactured by Beckhoff within the BC Bus Terminals series. By combining a controller with an I/O interface, the unit allows modular terminals to exchange data with higher-level networks and handle distributed control tasks close to the machine. A single Ethernet port with an RJ45 connection provides direct wiring to the control network, while the downstream K-bus carries data and operating power to attached Bus Terminals. This local control approach keeps terminal-level logic and network access in one compact unit.
Up to 64 terminals can be connected after the coupler, and the Ethernet interface operates at 10/100 Mbaud for standard industrial network traffic. The internal CPU uses a 16-bit microcontroller, and its PLC performance reaches 0.85 ms/1000 IL commands, which supports fast response during sequence control and interlocked machine states. Analog processing is available for 512 inputs/outputs, while separate memory areas store process images, compiled logic, and editable user code. A 32 kbyte data memory works alongside 48 kbyte of program memory and 128 kbyte of source code space, so application data and stored logic remain separated during cyclic operation.
The electrical section is powered from 24 VDC and can pass up to 10 A across the power contacts for actuators on the terminal row. The K-bus current is rated at 1750 mA, which supports stable communication and terminal supply across fully populated assemblies. Electrical isolation withstands 500 V between field and logic circuits, and network segments can extend to 100 m with standard Ethernet cabling. This separation helps protect the control side from field-side potentials while maintaining reliable signaling over typical cabinet-to-machine distances.
