Product Description:
The BC4000 Bus Terminal is built by Beckhoff to meet the demands of modern and time critical industrial automation and control applications. This BC series terminal provides excellent digital input functionality.
The BC4000 bus terminal can handle up to 128 analog input or output signals which are typically voltage or current signals used for sensors and actuators. It comes with a 10 amperes fuse to protect the terminal and wiring. The module is tested for durability against vibration and mechanical shock and it meets specific industrial standards. It has an isolation between power contacts, supply voltage and fieldbus components can withstand up to 500 volts without breakdown. The module can be configured using software tools like KS2000 or via the controller system. It also meets electromagnetic compatibility standards for industrial environments which means it is resistant to interference. The physical weight of the terminal is about 170 grams. The module communication interface uses two 9 pin D sub connectors with shielding and locking features to ensure secure and reliable connections. It draws 70 milliamps plus one quarter of the total current used by the internal K bus modules.
The BC4000 bus terminal can accommodate up to 64 terminals/modules in a single bus configuration which allows for extensive I/O scalability. It can support up to 256 digital input/output signals which is suitable for binary sensors, switches and relays. The module comes with power lines that can carry up to 24 volts DC, which is standard for industrial control systems. It is designed to be mounted on a 35mm DIN rail which makes it compatible with common industrial enclosures. It can be installed in any orientation and it offers flexibility in panel layout.
Frequently Asked Questions about BC4000:
Q: How does the 500 V dielectric strength enhance the BC4000’s operational safety?
A: It provides insulation between power, fieldbus, and supply voltages, preventing breakdowns. This ensures safer operation in high-voltage environments and protects internal components.
Q: Why is the IP20 protection rating suitable for the BC4000 bus terminal?
A: IP20 ensures protection against solid objects over 12 mm, like fingers or tools. It’s appropriate for enclosed cabinet installations where moisture isn't a concern.
Q: How does the BC4000 handle high current loads through its power contacts?
A: The BC4000 supports up to 10 A power contact current load, ideal for moderate power devices. This enables direct connection to field components without overload risk.
Q: What is the function of vibration resistance in BC4000 Bus Terminal?
A: Vibration resistance ensures the BC4000 maintains stable electrical connections in dynamic or mobile installations. It prevents component failure due to mechanical stresses.
Q: Why is starting current of 2.5 times the continuous current important for BC4000?
A: It compensates for inrush current during power-up, preventing false triggering of protection devices. This ensures reliable booting without affecting power supply stability.
