The AX8640-0000-0000 is power supply module from the Beckhoff’s AX8000 series which is a power module for the DC link needed to power the axis and option modules or multi of them in multi axis servo systems. This module accepts three phase input voltages between 200 and 480 V AC 50/60 Hz and provides an 848 V DC link and a 40 A DC link output.

The module has built-in mains filter suitable for use with any EN 61800-3 equipment Category C3 complying with the standards of EMC in industrial usage. It recaptures the regenerative energy from motor braking in two methods, converting the energy using the internal brake resistor or brake chopper in series with external brake resistor or both. However, this energy may be used elsewhere in the AX8810 capacitor module or even additional embedded resources.

The installation is made easier by the aid of an AX-Bridge system which eliminates the need of tools to connect the DC link, 24 volt DC control voltage and the EtherCAT communication. The module features EtherCAT for the system bus and accepts the drive profile Cia402 for incorporation into sophisticated automation. It is very easy to do the commissioning of the module using TwinCAT 3 Drive Manager 2 while safety based projects can be dealt with using TwinCAT 3 Safety Editor TE9000 and TwinSAFE Loader/User TE9200. The AX8640-0000-0000 is rated for use in ambient temperature conditions ranging from 0 to +40° C (+55° C with power derating) and carries CE, cULus, and EAC certifications, which confirms that the device is suitable for applications in the industrial sector and has safety and operational performance in regard to international standards.
