The AX8206-0110-0000 is a two-channel digital servo drive produced by Beckhoff for the AX Digital Servo Drives series. It converts three-phase 400 VAC from the machine supply into precisely timed current pulses that run brushless servo motors in automated handling, packaging, and positioning systems. By combining power electronics with real-time bus communication, the unit supports tightly synchronized multi-axis motion when integrated into a TwinCAT environment.

During continuous duty, each channel delivers a nominal output of 6 A/channel, while an expanded envelope of 8 A/channel is available at an 8 kHz PWM carrier frequency. Short accelerations can draw up to 20 A/channel before the controller reverts to rated load, and the common DC bus can momentarily supply 28 A to absorb simultaneous surges. The intermediate circuit is stabilized by 135 µF of DC-link capacitance that stores regenerated energy between axes. A control algorithm caps the fundamental motor voltage so the electrical output frequency does not exceed 599 Hz, allowing high-speed spindles without overstressing insulation. Logic electronics are powered from the 24 V service rail; without an active holding brake they consume 570 mA, and a dedicated brake terminal can switch up to 1 A for mechanical clamps. Two D-sub sockets accept encoder returns, and EnDat 2.2/22 or BiSS C protocols transmit absolute position data, while an auxiliary D-sub pin set sources 250 mA for sensor power. Steady thermal dissipation is limited to 12 W, allowing cabinet airflow to manage heat. The housing occupies only 60 mm of panel width and measures 192 mm deep by 230 mm high, so multiple units can mount side by side in compact automation panels.
