The AX8108-0100-0000 is a single-axis digital servo drive produced by Beckhoff in the AX Digital Servo Drives series. The unit interfaces between a DC power supply and a motor, modulating phase currents so that factory controllers can execute position, velocity, and torque commands in tightly coupled motion sequences. This arrangement lets the controller regulate acceleration, steady-state speed, and stopping behavior from one compact module. With one channel available, the drive simplifies wiring for a single motor axis.

It delivers a continuous motor phase current of 8 A, while short-term transients reach 20 A to start or brake loads. The internal link can be charged up to 848 V DC, buffered by 135 µF of capacitance to smooth regeneration peaks. Control electronics draw 500 mA from the 24 V auxiliary input, and a separate brake transistor sources 1 A to a holding brake coil. Motion control conforms to the CiA402 profile running over the CANopen-over-EtherCAT channel, and analog-to-digital hardware resolves feedback at 1158.5 Inc/A. Because there is only one power stage, cabinet heat dissipation remains low and thermal design is simpler.

The housing carries an IP20 rating that protects against solid ingress but requires cabinet mounting. Real-time data exchange uses EtherCAT, enabling distributed clock cycles for coordinated multi-axis moves. Compact dimensions of 60 mm in width, 230 mm in height, and 192 mm in depth allow high-density stacking on DIN rail. OCT and EnDat 3 encoder interfaces supply power and serial feedback on a single hybrid cable. Safe torque-off and the time-monitored SS1 function can be activated through the integrated terminals to satisfy machinery stop requirements without external relays.
