Product Description:

AX8108-0100-0000 is a single-axis module belonging to the AX8000 series of Beckhoff's products, with the aim of achieving highly efficient motion control within multi-axis systems. Supporting the incorporation of additional safety measures with the built-in TwinSAFE Logic, advanced safety functions can be realized directly in the servo drive. Containing both the DC link and the inverter modules, it is an efficient motor controller rated 8 A in output and has the capability of delivering 20 A of output current. This particular model has a broad operating range of up to 848 V DC in terms of the DC link voltage.

Other types of the AX8000 modules can be easily linked to AX8108-0100-0000 module with the use of the AX-Bridge interconnection, eliminating the need for attaching DC link, 24V DC control voltage, and EtherCAT communication components. This construction design also appreciates energy efficiency by facilitating the translation of energy from axis to axis when either of the axes is braking or speeding. Where this regenerating energy causes the operation of the DC link to be exceeded, an external brake resistor such as the AX881x is used to dissipate the excess power.

Safety is within acceptable limits with the additional feature for support of Safe Torque Off functional measure (STO) and Safe Stop 1 (SS1) beginning from local TwinSAFE Logic, hard wired inputs to over FSoE (Fail-safe over EtherCAT). The module complies with severe system safety mechanisms such as EN ISO 13849-1:2015 (Cat 4, PL e) and SIL 3 thus providing high operational safety levels. Multi-feedback interface provided by the AX8108-0100-0000 also supports shock and EnDat 3 encoders, where either primary or secondary feedback can be provided making it advantageous. Its EtherCAT system bus configuration supported with CiA402 drive profile provides swift and dependable communication, making it suitable for complex automation.
