Product Description:
The AX5801-0000 is an option module from Beckhoff for the AX Digital Servo Drives series. Installed alongside the drive, the unit adds integrated safety functions that can disconnect motor power in hazardous conditions without the need for external relays. Within automated cells, it works as a monitored safety layer, allowing motion to stop rapidly and predictably whenever operator access or an abnormal process state is detected.
The module draws only 50 mA from the control cabinet supply, so its own power demand is minimal. All internal relay coils are energized from a common control line rated at 24 VDC (-15%/+20%), keeping the safety voltage level within the extra-low-voltage range. When the safety chain opens, each output contact may carry up to 0.35 A to interrupt feedback loops leading to the drive. Two independent monitoring circuits are provided, so the application can fulfill Category 3/PL d requirements by cross-checking the state of both channels, and this dual-channel arrangement is summarized by the value 2. To meet functional safety requirements, the module supports the certified stop modes STO and SS1, giving a choice between immediate torque removal and timed deceleration before shutdown.
Feedback contacts are implemented as potential-free relays, eliminating galvanic coupling with external PLC inputs. Field wiring is completed through the supplied 4-pin and 6-pin plug sets, and each conductor is stripped to 10 mm to ensure a secure clamp inside the spring cage. Terminals accept wire sizes between 0.2-1.5 mm², covering the typical cross-sections used for 24 V safety circuits. All contacts are arranged in series to simplify daisy-chaining across multiple axes, and the card is recognized automatically by AX5101-AX5140 and AX52xx drives without additional setup.
