Product Description:
Beckhoff made the AX5701 Encoder option card to add more input options to the AX5000 Servo Drive series. The card allows users to add an extra encoder input and supports a number of feedback connections that are necessary for accurate motion control in industrial automation.
The AX5701 encoder option card has one channel that works with feedback interfaces SinCos 1 VPP, EnDat 2.1, EnDat 2.2, HIPERFACE 1 VPP, and BiSS 1 VPP. It can connect an extra high-resolution encoder because the card is mounted in the second option spot on top of the AX5000 servo drive. This arrangement makes it easier to control the position, which is important for getting rid of mechanical feedback. Both single-turn and multi-turn encoders that work with the mentioned feedback protocols can be used with the encoder card. Standard system parameters are used to handle the feedback signals, and the card has digital inputs that can be set up using jumpers for even more customization. The encoder choice card works in temperatures between 0°C and 50°C and has been approved by CE and cULus, making sure it meets international standards.
The AX5701 encoder option card can only be used with single-channel servo drives. It is not meant to be used as the main motion feedback system. The TCDriverManager software can be used to change how these inputs are set up. There are both single-ended and differential digital inputs on the card. Single-ended inputs can handle up to 1 mA, and differential inputs can handle 0–5 V with 120 Ω of input resistance. The encoder option card works with ZK4510 series cables that are already in use, which makes installation and servicing easier.
Frequently Asked Questions about AX5701:
Q: Do the digital inputs on AX5701 support differential signals?
A: The option card provides both single-ended and differential digital inputs. Differential inputs accept 0–5 V signals with 120 Ω resistance for reliable signal analysis.
Q: How does AX5701 ensure reliable ground potential?
A: The option card requires that the ground potentials of its digital inputs be connected to the drive’s ground. This ensures stable and accurate signal processing.
Q: Why is AX5701 limited to single-channel servo drives?
A: The encoder option card is designed for single-channel operation, while AX5702 serves two-channel drives. This specialization ensures optimal compatibility and performance.
Q: Does AX5701 comply with international safety standards?
A: The option card carries CE and cULus approvals. These certifications confirm compliance with recognized safety and quality standards.
Q: How does AX5701 facilitate installation and maintenance?
A: The option card is compatible with ZK4510 series cables and existing AX5000 slot interfaces. This compatibility simplifies installation and reduces downtime.
