The AX52XX-ST00-8 is a digital servo drive produced by Beckhoff as part of the AX Digital Servo Drives series. This two-channel module conditions incoming AC power, delivers regulated output to two motion axes, and coordinates position loops in industrial automation cells such as palletizers and packaging stations. By combining motor power, brake control, and sensor supplies inside a single 92 mm-wide housing, the drive reduces panel space and wiring while maintaining deterministic motor control.

The drive accepts a nominal line supply of 1 x 100 VAC (-10%) to 240 VAC (+10%), which lets it run from global single-phase supplies without autotransformers. Internally the DC link can rise to 875 VDC, and this ceiling sets the required rating for connected bus capacitors and surge protection. During rapid deceleration, it can absorb up to 14 kW of braking power through its integrated chopper and can shunt a further 15 kW to an external resistor no smaller than 47 Ω. A short-circuit current rating of 18 kA qualifies the unit for use on branch circuits protected by high-rupture-capacity fuses. The enclosure carries an IP20 rating, so it must be mounted inside a cabinet while remaining finger-safe when the door is open. Eight digital inputs support limit switches or homing sensors, while I/O 7 can source 0.5 A for actuators. A separate 24 VDC sensor bus delivers 1 A to encoders or proximity switches.

The mechanical envelope measures 232 mm in depth, 92 mm in width, and 317.70 mm in height, allowing dense stacking on DIN rail or back-plate assemblies. Operation is permitted from 0 °C to +50 °C, so no derating is needed in typical factory environments. Two independent channels simplify multi-motor installations, and the eight configurable inputs help reduce the need for separate interface modules in compact control cabinets.
