The AX52XX_LT00_4A is a dual-axis servo drive produced by Beckhoff for the AX Digital Servo Drives series. It modulates DC bus energy to control synchronous or induction motors in automated cells, providing coordinated motion and real-time feedback for machine tools, packaging lines, and material-handling stages. Motion commands and diagnostic data are exchanged through an EtherCAT system interface, providing deterministic synchronization with Beckhoff PLCs and third-party masters.
The drive executes current and position loops every 62.5 µs, a control-cycle interval that supports high-bandwidth trajectory correction on both axes. Its architecture groups the paired outputs as two independent channels, with each channel drawing from a shared DC link rated up to 875 VDC. This voltage margin allows the drive to accommodate regenerative peaks without overvoltage trips. The electronics are housed in an enclosure with an IP20 protection rating intended for cabinet mounting with forced airflow. Eight digital inputs accommodate overtravel switches or probe triggers. A single configurable digital output can indicate status or latch events while sourcing up to 0.5 A.
The internal brake chopper dissipates up to 14 kW of regenerated energy. If braking demand exceeds this capacity, an external resistor of at least 47 Ω can be connected to provide an external braking capacity of 15 kW. Feedback devices receive a dedicated 1 A supply, supporting multi-turn encoders and linear scales. The housing has a mechanical depth of 232 mm, an overall width of 92 mm, and a height of 317.70 mm, allowing the unit to fit three-tiered 600 mm control cabinets without interference. Input and output data are refreshed every 250 µs to keep ancillary signals aligned with the faster control loop. This direct signal handling allows overtravel switches, probe triggers, and status events to be incorporated into indexing sequences without auxiliary input and output modules.
