Product Description:
The AX52XX-FP00.7 is a dual-axis servo drive from Beckhoff within the AX Digital Servo Drives series. In multi-motor machinery, it converts DC bus power into controlled AC for two synchronous or induction motors, allowing position and velocity loops to close directly inside the control cabinet. It also combines braking energy handling with configurable I/O for coordinated motion tasks in packaging, handling, and general automation cells.
The drive offers a configurable output current of 0.5 A per digital output, which is sufficient for solenoid valves or opto-isolated relays tied to the controller. It has 8 on-board digital inputs for fast trigger capture, and those channels are scanned at drive cycle speed. A DC link rated for up to 875 VDC lets the unit share energy with other modules on a common bus, while integrated capacitors absorb transients. Two independent inverter stages provide 2 motor channels, so a single module can command a pair of axes without additional hardware. Regenerative heat created during rapid deceleration is dissipated inside the housing, and the allowable internal brake power reaches 14 kW when no external resistor is connected. The unit also uses single-phase power entry, provides a sensor supply current of 1 A, and has a depth of 232 mm.
For applications that need higher braking capacity, an external brake resistor can be fitted, and the module permits up to 15 kW of brake energy when that resistor is present, provided its resistance is no lower than 47 Ω. The housing is rated IP20, so the drive must be installed in a protected cabinet, and its 92 mm width with a 317.70 mm height allows side-by-side mounting. Short-circuit withstand capability on the mains side is rated at 18 kA SCCR. One configurable transistor output is available for status or interlock signaling.
