Product Description:

The AX5206_TR00_3 is a two-channel AC servo drive released by Beckhoff in the AX Digital Servo Drives series. It delivers closed-loop torque, velocity, and position control for brushless motors used in packaging machines and handling cells. Integrating both axes in one frame simplifies cabinet wiring and allows the channels to share a common DC link for regenerative energy exchange.

Each axis draws energy from a DC link stabilized by a capacitance of 470 µF. The link may rise to a maximum of 875 VDC, which sets the insulation and precharge requirements of the cabinet bus. Under continuous conditions, the nominal current per channel is 9 A, while the control electronics allow a short-term peak of 13 A for step changes in load. Internal energy overflow is dissipated by an integrated brake resistor, and it handles 90 W continuously with momentary surges up to 14 kW without requiring an external module. When the power devices switch, the converter loses 160 W, so forced-air cooling is recommended to keep semiconductor junctions within limits. If additional dynamic braking is required, the terminals can connect to a discharge resistor no lower than 47 Ω to avoid overcurrent. The drive also allows peak current limits to be set as low as 1 A, which supports delicate actuators without oversizing.

Cabinet layout is aided by the housing geometry, which is 92 mm wide and 232 mm deep without connectors, with a height of 317.70 mm. The unit weighs 6 kg, which helps reduce handling effort during installation. When an external resistor is present, the brake chopper can dissipate bursts up to 15 kW, while respecting the aggregate drive envelope of 26 A used by the power stage. These values are important for enclosure ventilation, cable sizing, and deceleration behavior in packaging, woodworking, and semiconductor handling equipment.
