Product Description:

The AX5206-0000-0200/8 is a dual-axis digital servo drive manufactured by Beckhoff and assigned to the AX Digital Servo Drives series. It supplies controlled three-phase power and real-time diagnostic data to servo or induction motors, enabling coordinated positioning, speed, and torque control in automated assembly, packaging, and machining systems. The drive combines current regulators, a DC link, and safety circuitry in one enclosure, allowing multi-axis motion without separate power modules or external braking units.

The drive contains 2 galvanically isolated channels, each capable of a peak output of 13 A, which gives a combined short-term output of 26 A when both axes accelerate at the same time. For small transducers or auxiliary mechanisms, an adjustable bias of 0.5 A can be set so light loads remain within the operating range. The intermediate circuit tolerates up to 875 VDC, allowing energy returned from regenerative motion to be stored in the bus. Eight 24 V digital inputs capture limit, home, or enable signals, while a 1 A sensor supply feeds encoders. Continuous power loss is stated as 160 W, which is used to size cabinet ventilation and maintain acceptable device temperature during rated duty.

A 470 µF link capacitor reduces voltage ripple and buffers energy during braking events. The internal resistor network dissipates up to 90 W continuously and can absorb surges reaching 14 kW before duty-cycle limits reduce the load. If mechanical inertia exceeds those limits, excess energy is routed to an external resistor bank provided its impedance is at least 47 Ω. The housing measures 317.70 mm in height, 92 mm in width, and 232 mm in depth, so it can be mounted alongside other AX modules on a shared DC bus while maintaining space for airflow and cable bend radius.
