Product Description:

The AX5125-0000-0210 is a digital servo drive produced by Beckhoff within the AX Digital Servo Drives series. With integrated power electronics and motion algorithms, the unit regulates current and speed for synchronous and induction motors used in machining centers, packaging equipment, and other automated stations. In operation, it rectifies three-phase supply voltage into a controlled DC link, energizes the motor phases, and channels surplus energy to braking hardware for closed-loop axis control.

The drive delivers a continuous phase output of 25 A and can supply a short-term peak of 50 A, providing headroom for rapid acceleration. Its intermediate circuit tolerates up to 875 VDC, so overvoltage supervision is required when regenerative loads are present. With a 400 VAC supply, the S1 apparent power reaches 17.3 kVA, a figure used when sizing upstream breakers and cabling. Internal dissipation is limited to 340 W, which must be removed by cabinet airflow to maintain component life. The drive has 8 digital inputs that accept fast trigger signals for position-related functions. For feedback devices, the drive supplies a regulated output of 24 VDC at 1 A, eliminating the need for an external sensor supply. Continuous braking energy up to 200 W is handled by the built-in chopper, while events that exceed this capacity must be routed to an external resistor of at least 22 Ω.

The housing is 185 mm wide, 232 mm deep, and 317.70 mm high. The enclosure weighs 11 kg, which keeps the unit manageable during panel installation. During emergency deceleration, the external brake path can absorb up to 32 kW when the resistor and wiring are matched to the pulse energy. Control electronics process encoder feedback at spindle speeds reaching 60,000 rpm, enabling very high-speed operation without loss of position fidelity.
