Product Description:
The AX5125-0000-02000 is a digital servo drive produced by Beckhoff for the AX Digital Servo Drives series. Acting as the power stage between a motion controller and a three-phase servomotor, it converts a fixed 400 V line supply into controlled output voltage and frequency for regulating torque, speed, and position. Applications include packaging stations, gantry axes, and articulated robot joints that require deterministic response, a compact size, and fieldbus connectivity. Energy returned during braking is directed to an internal or external resistor rather than being sent back to the mains.
The drive furnishes up to 17.3 kVA of apparent power, supporting a continuous motor current of 25 A and a momentary ceiling of 50 A for acceleration surges. Its DC link can reach 875 VDC, so connected cables must be suitable for this voltage. The electronic circuitry dissipates 340 W, which must be considered when determining panel airflow requirements. Eight digital inputs are available for hardwired enables or limit switches, and the encoder port supplies 250 mA per channel to incremental or absolute feedback devices. The housing measures 317.70 mm high, 185 mm wide, and 232 mm deep, allowing multiple units to be installed in a compact arrangement. A brake resistor with a minimum resistance of 22 Ω can be connected when external energy dissipation is needed.
Regenerative peaks that exceed the built-in dissipation limit of 200 W can be routed to an external circuit rated for 32 kW, preventing overvoltage trips during rapid deceleration. The housing has an IP20 rating, providing basic protection against contact with internal components while requiring installation in a closed cabinet free of conductive dust. At 11 kg, the module can be positioned during cabinet installation while providing sufficient thermal mass for continuous operation. Front-access terminals simplify wiring by keeping connection points readily accessible from the face of the drive. A pluggable brake resistor connector also facilitates installation and service without changing the electrical footprint.
